Thick-walled steel screw piles (modified)

Metal piles are used to make foundations on soft soils, areas with difficult terrain, near and directly on bodies of water. Such piles are also used on hard soils, which reduces the construction time of the facility and reduces the volume of excavation work.

A foundation on metal piles is the best option for the construction of light buildings. Foundations using such structures are considered highly efficient, profitable and, at the same time, reliable. They are used in any climatic conditions. The main advantage is that their fulcrum is on a reliable basis and is located below the freezing level of the soil.

Characteristics of the anti-corrosion coating of OZMK screw piles based on polyurethane resins:

Composition: two-component polyurethane primer with anti-corrosion components on an epoxyphenol basis with a urethamine hardener, used in atmospheric conditions and aggressive environments of alkalis and weak acids.
Coating service life: 10-15 years (depending on the aggressiveness of soil conditions).

Competitive advantages of coating:

  • High rates of cohesion (tear-off force) and adhesion to all types of metals (wet layer thickness gauges are used to achieve a given coating thickness);
  • High impact strength, bending strength, indentation resistance and coating resistance to cracking and peeling;
  • The highest level of physical and mechanical indicators of chemical and biological resistance among paint and varnish coatings.

Note:

The thickness of the anti-corrosion coating of piles is set depending on the operating conditions according to GOST 9.303 or according to the degree of aggressive environmental influence according to SNiP 2.03.11. The coating must satisfy class VI in appearance, and group U1 of GOST 9.032 in terms of operating conditions.

Product characteristics

Metal piles have a number of advantages and disadvantages, which are shown in the table below.

Advantages of metal supportsDisadvantages of piles
1when using them, there is no need for preliminary preparation of the construction siteit is problematic to arrange a basement among drilled foundation pillars
2the possibility of installation does not depend on the climate zone and weatherthe buildings being erected are significantly limited in weight: multi-storey structures cannot be built from heavy materials
3the complexity of the process of installing supports is several times less than for other types of basesif the soil at a construction site is wet and contains active chemicals, the metal deteriorates faster, reducing the service life of the entire structure
4immediately after installing the piles, you can begin building a building on themBefore starting work, it is necessary to study the geological conditions on the site and draw up a project
5the created foundation is stable even on very weak soils; if necessary, it can be repairedit is difficult, or even impossible, to screw screws into rocky soil
6relatively quick installation, with no vibration phenomenaDuring installation, the support pillars may deviate from the vertical, then you will need to drill again

A pile-type foundation is a relatively cheap structure. This option is optimally suited as a foundation for buildings on soft soils, or when a structure needs to be erected in a short time. But the weight restrictions of buildings should be taken into account.

Installation method

They work with piles using a certain technology. The process involves people or equipment. The installation itself takes place in the following sequence:

  • according to the project, the installation sites of the main and additional supports are marked with pegs at the construction site;
  • drill guide holes;
  • screw or drive piles into them to the required depth;
  • check the vertical of the pipe with a plumb line or level;
  • according to the required height of the foundation, the excess is cut off according to the level;
  • concrete solution is poured inside the pipes;
  • mounted by welding the head;
  • paint the resulting seams.

Installation process with simultaneous level control
It is better for two workers to tighten the screws so that the force is distributed evenly and there are no distortions. You don’t have to pour concrete inside the pipes, but then the strength of the base will be lower. Doing the work yourself saves money.

Thick-walled screw piles Moscow

A screw pile is essentially a steel pipe of the required diameter with a given wall thickness, to the pointed tip of which a spiral blade is welded, allowing it to be screwed into the ground like a self-tapping screw. This tip with a blade welded to it performs the main function of a screw pile. Namely, the pile itself rests on it, transferring the load of the mass of the corresponding structure onto the ground. In addition, it prevents the forces of frost heaving, which can even pull the pile itself out of the ground. Therefore, the reliability of a screw pile directly depends on the quality of its tip with blades.

Almost at all times, the quality, reliability and durability of foundations have come to the fore when assessing the construction of any structure. And now the demands on them are increasing even more. In order to keep up with the demands of time and the construction market, we are constantly expanding our product range. In particular, we began to produce thick-walled screw piles from seamless, solid-drawn steel pipes. They have been used in the oil and gas industry for a long time and have shown their reliability and ability to be used in harsh climatic conditions.

Thick-walled steel screw modified piles

For their production, we use exclusively high-strength seamless pipes with walls starting from 6.5 mm thick. This allows them to be used for foundations in fairly dense soils, without fear that they will subsequently deform. And, for example, such screw piles in Moscow are used in the construction of particularly important buildings and structures.

Their advantages compared to similar standard piles lie in improved (increased) characteristics regarding:

  • resistance to constant mechanical loads and corrosion;
  • bearing capacity;
  • exposure to aggressive environments;
  • service life - more than 150 years (according to laboratory studies);
  • torque when screwing into the ground;
  • strength.

To determine the reliability of the foundation, the expected load on it is usually calculated and, based on this, screw piles of the required configuration are selected. Our modified screw piles are universal, have high load-bearing capacity and can be used in the construction of almost any structure. At the same time, the cost of screw piles of this type is quite reasonable.

We produce reinforced screw piles, the price of which is not much higher than the cost of standard ones. And, if you want to buy screw piles in Moscow or another region of the Russian Federation, call us at +7 (495) 661-78-58 or leave a request directly on the company’s website.

Technology for driving metal piles

To install metal piles, our company uses highly productive wheeled pile driving equipment. The park of the Bogatyr Sports Complex consists of the following installations:

  • UMMC-12 (3 pcs);
  • USA (2 pcs);
  • BM-811.

Expert advice! All machines have a rotating working platform, which allows them to drive several piles at once within a radius of 5-6 m, without changing the position of the pile driver.

Rice. 2.1 : USA (universal piling unit)

The equipment differs in the type of mounted piling equipment, which determines the functionality of the installations:

  • UMMC-12 hammers pipes up to 12 meters long and weighing up to 3.7 tons;
  • USA - weight up to 5 tons, length up to 12 m;
  • BM-811 - length up to 9 meters, maximum weight - 3 tons.

Expert advice! Wheeled pile drivers are characterized by high mobility within a construction site and the ability to travel under their own power to sites remote from the city, while overcoming difficult rough terrain.

BM-811

Rice. 2.2 : BM-811

BM-811, in addition to driving, can drill wells. The need for it arises when driving piles into hard soils, in which the efficiency of the operation of pile-driving mechanisms is significantly reduced. In this case, the piles are installed in pre-designed (leader) cavities. The installation drills wells to a depth of 12 m, diameter - from 15 to 40 cm.

Making piles with your own hands

The simplest versions of screw metal piles up to 6 m long for light buildings can be made independently at home. They can be used as a base for bathhouses, sheds, fences, and wooden houses. For work you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Bulgarian;
  • sledgehammer;
  • mount;
  • welding machine, electrodes;
  • tape measure, chalk or marker;
  • building level;
  • pipes with a diameter of 60, 80 mm (they are selected according to the approximate load);
  • steel sheet 4 mm thick.

The creation of a homemade product occurs in the following sequence:

  • a blade with a diameter of 122 mm is cut from sheet steel;
  • put it on the pipe;
  • the end of the last grinder is cut into triangular scallops numbering from 3 to 6, which is determined by the pipe diameter;
  • use a sledgehammer to connect them into a cone, welding the joints;
  • a workpiece is welded to the tip from the inner edge;
  • then the blade is stretched with a pry bar so that it lies completely in a spiral on the pipe;
  • weld the place of contact.

The cutting edge of the blade is sharpened into a wedge shape.

The quality of homemade products depends on the skill of the welder. Self-made screws are much cheaper than factory-made analogues, but they are inferior in quality. Coating with waterproofing will increase the service life of the material.

Options for creating a foundation

Types of foundations on metal supports

When the installation of the supports is completed, then they begin to connect the heads. This is done in the following ways:

  • connected using wooden beams;
  • perform channel tying;
  • a strip-type reinforced concrete grillage is poured;
  • create a monolithic concrete slab.

The choice of method for connecting the heads depends on the design load. The slab connects all the supports into a single whole and prevents any of them from sagging.

The characteristics of screw piles and the process of their installation are given in the video below.

Self-production of metal supports is shown in the video below. The use of metal piles allows you to quickly erect a light structure in case of significant uneven terrain and unstable soils. Their independent production and installation significantly reduces construction costs. All work should be performed in pairs, following the installation technology. Then the created structure will last for decades without problems.

Columnar foundation: definition, types

columnar pile foundation
Columnar foundation - a foundation consisting of a certain number of support pillars that transmit and distribute the load of the building to the ground

A columnar foundation is a foundation consisting of a certain number of support pillars that transmit and distribute the load of the building to the ground. The pillars can be rectangular or round, made from materials such as:

  • monolithic reinforced concrete;
  • solid bricks;
  • heavy grade concrete;
  • rubble and rubble concrete mixtures.

Reinforced concrete supports are distinguished by their strength and reliability. They are recommended for use in heavy soils that are prone to heaving, as well as where the level of aquifers is quite high. Other types of supports, as a rule, are fastened with concrete strips; the strength of the base in this case is inferior to a monolith.

Important! It is mandatory to install pillars in the corners of the building, at the junction of walls and partitions.

A distinctive feature of the pile-column foundation is the type of soil and the depth of penetration of the holes during construction. If only a columnar foundation is used on soils with normal bearing capacity, the depth of occurrence is determined by the freezing point, then pile foundations can be made on unstable, moisture-saturated soils with low bearing capacity. Thus, a pile-column foundation is indicated for the construction of buildings on any type of soil (except rocky and rocky), with average or medium-normal bearing capacity. Piles will perfectly “pass” unstable soils and redistribute the load of the structure onto denser layers.
